Hi Friends!
I left you when we were just getting home from Oregon. Let's see ~ there has been a little activity since then, for sure...
The very next weekend, March 28, Greater Vision was here in concert, in the Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene. And they were, as always, the best! Rodney Griffin has written some new songs and his message at the end was such a blessing ~ and a call for anyone who didn't know Christ, to heed His call. Gerald Wolfe sang and led the group as only he can, and Jacob Kitson, the new tenor, has a very good voice. He seems so young, but Greater Vision will be the making of him... They are my favorite group, can you tell?
After the concert, we were walking to our car in the back lot, and an elderly couple were crossing the street to where they had parked their car, when a lady in a van came around the corner and gunned it ~ not seeing the couple ~ and hit them both. The man flew into her windshield and broke it, was knocked out and possibly had a broken leg. The lady was thrown to the ground and was weeping and screaming. Mark, of course, went right over to be in the middle of things, and was very concerned trying to keep the man from going into shock. 911 brought firetrucks, ambulances and police cars galore, and everyone was taken care of. By the time we got to our car, there was no traffic at all to deal with ~ lol! I guess there are some perks to "getting involved."
Then on the 2nd of April, we headed for Myrtle Beach, SC, where Mark was to speak at another medical conference. We stayed at the Beach Cove Resort Hotel on North Myrtle Beach, and our room (actually a suite) faced the ocean, and had glass doors to a nice little lanai with a table and chairs. What a view... Every morning I took a walk on the beach, then found a place to sit and read a book. One day I had microwave popcorn and water for lunch, so the next day I got brave and got our rented red Ford Escape out of the parking garage, and went out to the highway and found an Arby's! Then I ventured a little further and found a shopping mall. But the most amazing thing of all was, that I found my way back to the hotel without getting lost (and without my GPS)! Mark was very impressed, so you should be, too! I kept the glass door open just a little through the night, so we could hear the ocean. What a lullaby...
On Sunday morning, we got up early and took a walk on the beach together. That was the first chance Mark had to get out of the hotel the entire weekend! On the way to the airport, we passed the Riverside Baptist Church in Conway, SC, and saw by their sign that the Rivertown Boys were there in concert. We stopped for the service ~ and it was pretty good. But you know, they just didn't come up to my favorites (GV!). They did do a little exhorting and gave an altar call. I'm sure they're somebody's favorite group...
On Friday, April 10, we had Cottage Prayer Meeting. I was asked to bring the devotional ~ and I usually talk to kids when I'm in front ~ so I talked to the group like they were kids. It went over, too ~ lol!
Saturday, April 11, the YMCA had a scrapbook night and I packed up my stuff and went over from 6:00p.m. - 10:00p.m. It was really fun ~ and I met some very nice ladies. They have this every month, and I have been a member of the Y since last November ~ where have I been? I am so-o-o-o glad to have found out about this. I love to scrapbook, but I love to do it with other people. Awesome!
Well, today I am waiting (patiently?) for word from my husby about our trip to IHC (Interchurch Holiness Convention). We have had plans to go for months, and have had our airline tickets for weeks, and the flight was for 4:00 p.m. today. And it is now 3:00 p.m. and Mark has hit some snags at work, so we (Mom & I) are sitting here with our suitcases in the car, waiting for his "All Clear" call, which means he has solved his issues and has booked us on another flight.
There are some more fun things coming up in April: High Tea with the Red Hat group, lunch @ Acroppolis with the Lunch Bunch from the Y, lunch with the Zephyrhills ladies (do I do anything besides eat? ~ lol!), and a scrapbooking weekend with my friends in St. Louis! So stay tuned....there's more news in the making!
Until next blog,
Mark 'n Di
