The next week...

Posted by markndi at 05:26 PM on June 01, 2009

Hi again!

I want you to know, I'm doing this because it needs to be done ~ not because I'm in the mood to write ~ lol!  If I could just get into the groove of writing every week, I would be so proud of myself....

Sunday, April 19, was our last "Covered Dish" Sunday at the church, for the summer.  Our dinners are held outside, and between April and October/November, it's just too hot.  So for the summer months we will be doing Ladies' Night Out and Men's Breakfast once a month.  I'll let you know how it goes. =)

Tuesday, April 21, I went over to Zephyrhills and had lunch with the BMC ladies.  It was sort of a celebration lunch, since Juanita Miller was heading back to Iowa, and Lynn Horger had just moved here (her husbando is the new pastor of the BMC).  We all had little welcome gifts for Lynn and had a nice time together.  We stopped at a thrift store after lunch (of course!) and had some fun looking around.

That evening, Mom and I went to her Writers' Club meeting.  Everyone was supposed to have written two poems about spring ~ and yes, I had done the assignment.  I wrote one about spring and one specifically about Easter.  The leader said I should submit them to Country Magazine.... hmmmm, whadya think?  I just might.  At any rate, it was a fun evening ~ some people can write and some cannot ~ lol!

Joe & Lynn Horger had asked if I could help them put a church flyer together ~ something they could give out when they are visiting, telling about the church, etc.  So I told them I would put something together, and Friday night they came to our house to look over what I'd done.  They brought Mom with them and we had some of my Chocolate Raspberry Cake and enjoyed their visit.

Saturday, I went with my Red Hat Sistahs for High Tea and the Hyde Park Tea Gardens.  There were 10 of us, and two of us had birthdays in April, so we were dressed in red with purple hats.  And our birthdays were the same day in April!  How unusual is that?  It was really a delightful outing ~ I am enjoying my red hat group!

Saturday evening we went out to eat with friends from our church, Dave & Sandy Thayer (& their 2-year-old grandson, William).  Dave and I share the exact same birthday, too (only a few years apart)!  Now this is getting more than unusual, eh?  Anyway, after dinner, we went back to their place and Sandy had made home-made chocolate pies and Dave had made home-made ice cream.  It just doesn't get much better than that!

Sunday, April 26, I turned 60.  This is rather an epic year in our family.  Did I tell you this before?  Well, I'm telling you again ~ and you might get told a third time before the year is over.  My Mom turns 80, Mark & I turn 60, my son Mark III turns 40, and Mark's son Grant, and Connie's daughter Katie will turn 16.  We are working on meeting somewhere at some point this year, to have a birthday bash!

The OASIS Lunch Bunch (from the YMCA) went out to eat at the Acropilis (Greek restaurant), on Wednesday, April 29.  It was really great food, and there were four of us who had April birthdays, so we all got a serving of baclava (sp?) with a scoop of ice cream.  We all shared, so I think the whole group got a taste.  Good stuff!  Then the group of servers came and sang to us, and threw handfuls of napkins in the air, to fall all over us like giant confetti. lol!  And of course, I did not have my camera.  In fact, I didn't take pictures of any of this stuff in April.  Something's gotta change here.  I've got to update more often and I've got to take more pictures.  I wonder if it's hopeless to hope?

Until next time, Mark 'n Di
